About us

A station born in the commune, made by people from the commune, for the commune and for those who have left it. Inauguration on 26 July 2027.

Our story

A station just beginning

Fonds-des-Nègres FM began from a simple observation: in the Nippes, news travelled by word of mouth, and many people learned too late about things that concerned them — a summons, a meeting, a death in the family.

A community radio station can fix that — and do much more: a place for debate, a memory, a stage for local musicians, and a thread connecting the commune to those living in Port-au-Prince, Montréal or Miami.

The schedule is ready: twenty-one programmes, 168 hours on air every week, from a studio on Route Nationale 2. The official inauguration takes place on 26 July 2027.

Our mission

What we have committed to

Inform without alarming

Check before speaking. Name sources. Never turn concern into panic.

Hand over the microphone

Bring to the microphone those usually spoken about rather than heard: farmers, market women, young people, elders.

Keep what is being lost

Record the folktales, proverbs and music of the region before the memory fades.
